In the first game of the 2011 CCSL season the Griffons trounced the Tap Room, winning 14-4. Captain Ray Solis was not in attendance due to a previously scheduled vaginal replacement surgery brought on by decades of betting on the Pirates. Surrogate Captains Kyle Jakubowski and Bryan Rice led the team to their first victory.
I'd like to take this opportunity to welcome all our new bats to the team: Jeremy, Lisa, Frank, Brooks, Teyona, and Ronya. The newcomers had some solid plays especially, Lisa who seriously beat SPTR's defense hitting a line drive to right center for an RBI triple. Jeremy, Frank and Brooks all had great hits along with our oldies but goodies like Ben, Darryl and Bryan Rice. Mr. Rice was gracious enough to put aside his transistor radio for the evening to hit a bomb to left field for a triple (it could have been a home run but he had to stop at 2nd for a cigarette and third due to cramping). Barb pitched a great game (as usual) and had a stellar defensive game, catching a line drive that easily would have been a single. Overall the Griffons dominated defensively stopping nearly everything that came their way.
As for the SPTR, it's clear that ex-Captain Jeremy is enjoying retirement as he seemed extremely relaxed at this week's game possibly due to a new addition to their team; Elmer. What Elmer may give up in range at short due to what are seemingly shoulder pads, he makes up for in bicep circumference which definitely aided him in hitting his mile long triples. The Tap Room put up a good fight but the Griffons brought their A game.
Until next time, Game Speed.
